COVID UPDATE

We are happy to announce that Seven Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Center plans to reopen our ice arena for rental.  When we open, some things will not be the same as they were before we closed, but the welcoming spirit of the friendly team here has not changed.

The well-being of team members, guests and community is important to us.  That is why we are implementing Seven Chiefs new health and safety protocols, which incorporate enhanced sanitization and social distancing practices.

Terms of Booking

  • Face covering (mask) is required in all common areas such as lobby, hallways and dressing rooms,
  • No access to the facility for Ice Arena until 15 minutes prior to ice time).
  • No access to the facility for Fieldhouse until 10 minutes prior to booking time
  • No Spectators – All other common areas have been closed and spectators, including parents and sibling, are not allowed inside the facility.
  • Wavier forms for any liability (COVID 19) Must be sign by everyone including coaches, trainers, players (Skaters) before they can enter the building
  • COVID – 19 Checklist Must be fill out and drop off at Screening Desk
  • Players to arrive dressed in full hockey gear (with no access to the facility until 15 minutes prior to ice time). Players to put on skates in designated areas in the dressing room with physical distance indicators and after ice time is over they will exit into dressing room to put on shoes and exit the dressing room.
  • Walk-in services are not permitted
  • All Ice and Fieldhouse must be book by sale team under the following:

School and team sport activities – Children and youth will be allowed to participate in limited school and team sport activities.

  • Lessons, practices and conditioning activities are allowed for indoor and outdoor, team-based, minor sports/activities and school athletics.
  • Games are not allowed.
  • All participants must be 18 years old or younger, except coaches or trainers.
  • Maximum of 10 total individuals, including all coaches, trainers, and participants.
  • Physical distancing must be maintained between participants at all times:
    • 3-metres physical distance for indoor activities
    • 2-metres physical distance for outdoor activities
    • coaches or trainers may enter physical distancing space for brief interactions with participants (for example, to correct form or technique)
  • Participants must be masked at all times, except during the training activity. Coaches/trainers/etc. must remain masked at all times.
  • Access to change rooms must be limited, including accelerated arrival and departure, emergencies (for example, first aid) and washroom use.

One-on-one training is permitted

  • Only one-on-one or one-on-one household training is permitted for indoor fitness activities (for example, in dance studios, swimming pools, training figure skating on ice, one-on-one lessons).
  • Sessions have to be scheduled or by appointment. No drop-in or groups allowed.
  • Individual workouts without a trainer are not permitted.
  • Renting the ice for 1 hour and 15 mins
  • One Dressing rooms will only be used by renting group if Prior approval from Management is given and No Dressing room will be given on Hitmen game day.
  • Seven Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight center close off to the public only to renting group and staff.
  • A security officer/Staff Member will greet each visitor to the Sportsplex.
  • A Handheld Non‐Touch Thermometer will be used at the Entrance. Each Clients/Visitors will have their temperature measured before entering the facility.
  • If the customer’s temperature is normal, will proceed to the next steps
  • If the customer’s temperature is above 38°C, a secondary temperature check will be conducted to verify the first reading.
  • If the customer fails the second screening test, individual will be asked to leave, seek medical testing and be barred from entry for two weeks.
  • Security will also be tasked with visual observation of customers who may be experiencing symptoms of fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose or difficulty breathing. Security will have the authority to not permit entry to individuals with visual symptoms present and bar individuals from entry for two weeks.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – Appropriate PPE will be worn by Customers as they enter into the building
  • A Hand sanitizer dispenser will be set up at front doors
  • A staff member or a security staff person would monitor to ensure only players with ice time are permitted in the facility and distancing measuring are being complied with On-Ice. Reporting user group compliance / safety issues to Facility Management.
  • On the ice, players have all of their equipment on including hockey gloves.  They do not share ANYTHING other than a hockey puck that is passed with a stick…NEVER touched by hand.
  • Water bottle placed on top of dashboard edge at benches so that players could place their water bottle in a safe area to ensure effective distancing during water breaks.
  • All health and safety recommendations would be followed
  • Beyond flood time between ice times, consider adding in an additional 15-minute lag time between user groups to ensure there is no interaction with multiple groups. All players from previous ice time must exit the facility within 10 minutes from the conclusion of their ice time. This additional lag time would also provide facilities with a cleaning period to sanitize key surface areas prior to the next user group arriving. This protocol could continue in place in future phases (as required).
  • No player, parent, coach nor staff member shall be permitted to enter the facility if they are feeling unwell or experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms.
  • Any participate must report a positive test immediately to the facility manager and their user-group leader.
  • If players, coaches and parents do not comply with Distancing protocols, players or groups will be asked to leave the facility immediately and the user group will be at risk at losing their ice times moving forward (as deemed appropriate by Facility Management). This protocol would remain in effect

The Seven Chiefs Sportsplex will be CLOSED effective December 13, 2020 to January 12, 2021.

COVID UPDATE

On behalf of and Seven Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Center Management, we’d like to share the following information;

As of November 24, 2020, Seven Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight is taking the necessary step to extend restrictions on some activities at Seven Chiefs Sportsplex in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. The changes are following new mandatory protocols within a State of Public Health Emergency called by the Government of Alberta. The protocols are based on recommendations from the Chief Medical Officer of Health of Alberta and apply to all recreation facility operators in the province. They are in place to manage rising case numbers.  To be clear, this initiative is an enhanced measure to help insure the safety of all Nation members, employees and clients.

To align with province wide measures, Seven Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight has taken the following steps.

Rentals 

Team sport activities such as practices, games and competitions that occur indoors, outdoor and where 2 metre distancing is not maintained at all times – this also includes all youth & Adults team sports

All ice, facility rentals for the period of closure (November 24 to Dec 15, 2020) will be cancelled and refunded or given credit automatically. No action is required at this time. We are unable to accept new rental inquiries for Team Sports until restrictions are lifted.

Fitness (Fitness Centre and Group Exercise Classes)

Maximum capacity is 16 people, 2-4 in fitness studio, 10 ppl on the track

Face masks are now mandatory in the fitness centre while NOT exercising i.e. resting, travelling between exercise equipment.

All Group Fitness Classes will be suspended until further notice.

Drop-In Activities 

  • Open Gym and Sticks & Pucks will be suspended until further notice.
  • No Open ice time for outdoor rink

Due to the recent restrictions for indoor team sports; group fitness classes; group singing and group dancing, Seven Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Center has decided to cancel all booking to team sports Effective 9 am, Friday November 13, 2020 – November 27, 2020.

This does not include outdoor sports, individual sports, individual exercise (fitness centre), training or equipment use, or to Junior, collegiate, university, Olympic or professional sports and to professional artists in professional performance venues.

We want to thank our customers, community and our employees for their cooperation and understanding during these very difficult times.

August 3, 2020

As of August 3, 2020, face covering (mask) will be mandatory to be worn at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Center in all common areas like lobby, hallways and dress rooms and Spectator/Parents in the Arena’s and Fieldhouse (Gym).   We acknowledge that not everyone is required to wear face coverings.

Exceptions are:

  • Children under two years of age;
  • People with underlying medical conditions or disabilities inhibiting their ability to wear a face covering;
  • People engaging in an athletic or fitness activity;
  • People who are unable to place, use or remove a face covering safely without assistance;
  • People who are eating or drinking at a public premise that offers food and beverage services;
  • People who are care giving or accompanying a person with a disability where wearing a face covering would hinder accommodation of the person’s disability;

Management highly recommends at this present time until August 3, 2020, that wearing face covering (Mask) to be used.
